Thailand Flooding - Hard Drive Manufacturers Status Update

Dear Customer,

We have recently received updates from our hard drive suppliers, and would like to share this information with you in order to understand and plan for any impact to your business and system builds.

Hitachi
Although Hitachi's factories are not under water, access to them is very limited.  Their main motor supplier is currently not producing any products in Thailand, but Hitachi is hoping to move some of it's production to the Philippines.  They have limited finished goods and are not shipping anything at this time.

Seagate
Seagate's factories and suppliers seem to be the least affected; however, their output has been reduced by 25% this quarter, and this is coupled with the increased demand due to shortages from other HDD manufacturers.  Currently we have no visibility on the availability of some products, but very limited availability on others.

Toshiba
Toshiba's mobile HDD factory is under water and is not producing any drives at present - we do not know when this will improve.  Enterprise level drives are not significantly affected; however, increased demand is expected due to shortages from other HDD manufacturers.

Western Digital
The Western Digital Thailand factory is still under water and cannot produce drives.  Their total production estimate from all factories is currently at half their normal output capacity.  There is little visibility at this time.

Unfortunately it is still raining in Thailand and as it's low tide season, there will be difficult times ahead.  Drive prices have increased by over 50% in the last few weeks and we don't know whether these increases will continue.

We hope this information is useful - and we thank our supplier for the contribution.  Please call technical sales on 01785 87 90 50 should you have any questions, or visit our website at www.assured-systems.co.uk for updates.

Kind regards,

Assured Systems
